Um about 4 years and have been on between 300mg and 500mg over that time, ( as at times it has changed. I am currently on 300mg. It also made me sleep a lot when i first started, i was in the hospital when i was put on it and all i did was sleep but now i am use to it, it is fine. I am also on Lithium for Bipolar 1.  My best advice is if your doctor wants you to try it then do and only take what i say about my experiences as a grain of salt as it effects everyone differently. I mean be aware of the possible side effects so you know what they are in case it does happen but not to take others experiences to seriously as you wont know how it will effect you until you take it. Talk with your doctor and make sure you get enough support from him/her while you start taking it and get use to it. I make people gain weight i believe is because it make you always feel hungry and that "full" switch is turned off, so if you do find you are eating more just monitor what you are eating, make sure it is healthy and exercise and once having your meal say to yourself O.K i have eaten enough so it is just the drug making your brain give you the wrong information. That's how i guess i have kept my weight in check.

Hope that helps.

It makes me sleep and sleep especially when i first started it. Weight gain about 10kg in total but i was very underweight when i started so people say i am healthy looking now. other than that it was good i think.
