paranoid skizophrenia

i have a brother  who thinks that the family is poising him  he thinks people is talking about him when we are not he thinks we are trying to caster rate him he went to doc they say he is depressed  he will not go around people has always been the type to stay in room alone the doc says it is not paranoid  skizophrenia because he is (31)of his age is this true i would think age would not matter i am at the point to were i am afraid but doc says it is depression make a app in 2 weeks he smokes about 3 to 4 packs of ciggerates a day he paces the floor and always thinking someone is out to get him he makes sexually comments such as he thinks someone sleep with him in his sleep he really thinks that were giving him rat poising in his food and we gave him a shot while he was asleep please give advise. he has went as fare as asking doc for a test to see if he is being poising that to a doc should be enough to know it is more than depression am i right or i am i just worried

Actually Major Depression can come with psychodic episodes.  There is more to schizophrenia than most people realize--it is not just about paranoia and hearing voices.

i just saw your note. how is your brother doing now? have you been to the doctor? i would also say he needs  family support, counseling and the right treatment and am sure he will be better soon. please take care of yourself. it must be hard on you.
