Lowest Dose Capsule of Effexor

My doctor is slowly weaning me of Effexor XL  150mg daily.  She tells me that the lowest dose of XL is 75mg.  She has put me on 37.5mg daily Venlafaxine.  I tried this as 150mg dose, and it was not the same at all as Effexor.  Is there any alternative.  I know Venlafaxine, is supposed to be the same as Effexor, but I don't think it is - at least my body said it was different!!

I am now wondering what the next step is for me.  What is the difference between Effexor XL and Venlafaxine.  How do I reduce from 37.5mg Venlafaxine?  My doctor does not know the answer to this.  She said it will have to be trial and error.  

Any comments that will help please?

I hope that you got my private message with details about using the 25mg pill of Effexor that can be divided up.  Have you been able to ask your pharmacist whether it is available in your country?  Wish you the best with tapering down.
