when do i know the meds are working/not working

hi was just wondering if the meds i'm on are for me or not??? i'm on 20mg prozac week 4 and 2 days and have been off effexor 17days The reason for the change in meds was effexor wasn't working for me even tho it has done before .I do feel i'v picked up at little but after a 7/8 hours night sleep feel tired and not rested at all. I'm yawning alot have bad diarrhea and feel anxious most of the time and haven't got that happy feeling like i used to have.  My doctor has given me diazepam 2mg if and when i need it had one yesterday morning and the morning before but not this morning yet. Was just wondering if I need to give it a little longer for the prozac to wrk or is it time for a change. Any feed back wold be great thanks jessica

I would give it more time, it can take upto 6 weeks to work.  If you are still having problems after that then I would talk to the dr.  It may not be the proper dose, but the dr would know best.

hi
wow 200mg that is alot to take being on prozac i thought the max dose you could go up to was 80mg and thats 20mg over the 60mg that really should be the max. I have picked up a little after 4 weeks but seem to be staying at the same level which i don't think is me back to my normal self yet.

Hi, 20mg of Prozac is not so much i guess(for depression?), here in The Netherlands they would dose up max 200mg Prozac in 3 gfts a day with 50mg tablets. May be ask your doc to raise? But sometimes you do not feel it that the meds are working, ask the people around you if the stuff works, they would notice your behavour and emotions?
