Hi,
My skin is very sensitive, I have eczema and other chronic skin problems.
This summer I got 3 different insect bites on my legs, each bite developed into red, itchy, swelling and warm to touch with 2 days. Each time I called my doctor and he said it's a combination of skin infection and my allergic reaction to the bites. Each time I'm prescribed with antibiotic and it has helped me.
However, while I was still taking antibiotic for the 3rd bite on my legs, I got a 4th one on my ankle. The 4th bite has become very enlarged considered now is 4 days into the bite. It has become red, radiating the redness, itchiness and swelling to the surface of my foot and the other side of my ankle. It's somewhat painful and difficult to walk on. I suspect it is infection/allergic reaction again. However, I was on antibiotic, how could an infection develop when I'm still on antibiotic? My 3rd bite is improving already since I started the antibiotic 6 days ago, however, the 4th bite (which I got about 4 days ago) is becoming worse. I asked my doctor again and he said it's my skin reaction/mile infection and if I should continue with my antibiotic it should improve. But the 4th bite is not improving consider now 4 days into it (WITH antibiotic). I'm afraid it's antibiotic resistant. What should I do before it gets even worse??? Please help!
