Bird mites under my skin won't go away

Over the Summer our house became infested with microscopic bird mites as we had many nests in our rooftops and used to feed them on our patio. My husband and I were severely bitten over several days. We brought in pest control and this helped a lot. I suffer more than my husband as the adult females bored into my left buttock especially and laid their eggs, I now know. I have seen two doctors who agree that I have pediculosis of some kind. It has been seven weeks since the infestation. The house is largely clear of them, but I still get young mites pouring out of my skin where they must have been embedded, they then head for the follicles of my pubic area and even will crawl into my vagina, it is horrific. I have been given permethrin creams, coal tar and take Borax and swimming pool bleach baths twice a day. The creams are not killing them. The baths help when the mites are running loose around my nethers and legs. I would like to know when all the young mites will die off, it is taking so long. I have new bedding and clothes on every day and take care to wash them in hot Borax/detergent. Can someone in the medical profession advise how long it will take for them to die off. I scrub off the loose ones from my skin buy I want the ones under my skin to be killed. I am seeing a dermatologist in a fortnight's time. I even use diatoms in my underwear. How can I flush them out of my skin? I am in despair.

Bird mites don't live on humans, it's a fact. You're more than likely dealing with morgellons disease.

How r now?  Better I hope. These mites r almost impossible to get rid of. Here’s the other thing. They carry funguses and mold. That r transferred during a bite. Or into a cut. U r very lucky u found a dr that believed u!!! Most do not. They accuse people of being drug addicts or delusional. I don’t have THE cure. I’m not selling anything. But I may have idea and info uve not read yet.  Maybe. U never know. Also read about sporothrix. Also a fungus carried by bugs and even our pets. The bottoms of our shoes too. Bringing it inside the house. Know this post is old. Hope ur better. It’s hell.

I have dealt with bird mites for 7 years. It is pure hell  and torment.  However a few months ago I tried something I had read about many times but never tried. I spent thousands of dollars during that 7 years trying to eradicate these things from my environment.  But when I tried Kleen Free Naturally, a non toxic enzyme solution, for the first time, I can sleep at night without a feeling of crawlingall over my body. I do not let my guard down however. I still spray my carpets  everyday and I still spray my sheets. I don't know why I didn't try It sooner but i guess it sounded too good to be true snd I had tried EVERYTHING!. It took about a week to see a big difference because my apartment was extremely infested. If you try it you will be elated with the results like I am. Good luck!
Sound like Morgellons. Whatever it is, my brother had it in Aransas Pass, tx. His neighbor got it several weeks before. Then I went to visit them for a week and I got it and his wife got it. I am a Mormon and had a Blessing by the elders but I also went to the Urgent Care and got a steroid shot in 6 days of Prednisone in mine has gone away. Larry my brother was given some try some cream had cortisone in it and his has disappeared also the neighbor just called and told me that hers is comeback. You can kill Morgellons with colloidal silver and some other things I also put Lamisil on mine along with cortisone cream

We started having a bird mite infestation as well when we got our stray cat. She would sleep on the sofa in living room and I used to sleep there , too. I started having tiny bites that would only itch once and then would be very hard to notice the next day. I went to a local urgent care and the doctor prescribed me an ointment with permethrin in it. So, I put it all over my body and had to wait certain hours and then shower to wash off the medicine. Then I filled up a spray bottle with 30% rubbing alcohol and the rest with water and sprayed a thin layer on the sofa on the floor and sprayed more on the dark places especially near the windowsill. After I took a shower and woke up the next morning everything was gone. Also I put my cat on petarmor treatment for bugsies.

You need ivermectin. Find a dr that will prescribe it. You aren't crazy and you can get better. Also enzyme cleaner for your house. Borax also. You can make a vaginal suppository from borax. Google it.  Praying for you!  You pray too!

Well, I have the bird mites for 9 months and they invaded my intimate area. I was able to catch them by using sellotape. The bites are painful and they crawl on my body for 9 months already. My room was sprayed twice for bed bugs as doctors believed that bites were caused by bed bugs. Well, I saw bed bugs but they are gone now as I saw only 3 of them - very light infestation and my room was promptly sprayed. I still did not get rid off animal mites called bird mites...
When I caught many of them...they were small. Only when they become adult, they are much bigger. I combed my hair and they were there on my hair found on the comb. I used toilet and they were crawling on the toilet seat. Even at upper part of the toilet. They were on my belly when I lifted my t-shirt to examine...they were in my mug - one was swimming in the water, second was crawling on the side of my mug - inside, then I found out that my other neighbours have them...it is impossible to get rid of them while other resident do not wish to spray their room and fortunately I am moving out.
I met pest control guy and he told me that they need to fume my room for 8 hours and then the animal mites would be killed. I am looking for that day coming soon..
I am dealing with this please help how did you get rid of them and treat yourself? Please help

I had this problem in an apartment that lied to me and stuck me in a building that was mandated to be shut down by the county, and  could a whole in the floor of my bedroom carpet near the window. I got rid of all of my furniture and clothes were out in a professional cleaners to wash, shoes and all, left there  moved out, only took my canvas art that I could not get rid of, and stared over with all others. still felt these bird mite, but now a year later they have gotten worst again and i can find relief from them crawing on me at night when i sleep! They fly in my mouth and nose. It's driving me crazy, HELP PLEASE!

Delusional parasitosis(Ekbom's disease) are unshakable false belief that one is infested. 'Folie a deux' is when this belief is shared by family members (Folie a famille). This condition is treatable. ok?

Inga, While the diagnosis of bird-mite infestation is a reality, the information on this is sketchy. Most dermatologists world over would possibly classify your condition as 'Parasitophobia'(Delusional parasitosis). If the family belives so Foli a famille..
Best wishes.

Hi there
I agree that the problem is due to bird mites, we had scores of baby sparrows being born in nests under our roof tiles. I think they may be sparrow mites, they cannot be seen with the naked eye. Do you also have an idea for how to remove the mites from under my skin where they lurk? How long can they live there? Aren't they supposed to need bird blood to live? Why are they still around now?
Many thanks
Inga

Pigeon mites(Dermanyssus gallinae) infestations can be mistaken as pediculosis or scabies. The outbreak abated after control measures were instituted that prevented pigeons from roosting on the porch.(Arch Intern Med. 1987;147(12):2185-2187-Nosocomial Dermatitis and Pruritus Caused by Pigeon Mite Infestation).
Best wishes.
