Bump in pubic area

Hi. I just recently noticed a fairly large bump directly above my penis and i was wondering what it could be. It does not hurt, and is about a centimeter in diameter. It does not itch either. It is fairly tough and is not sensitive to touch. I've read other articles and thought it might be a ingrown hair follicle, but i just wanted to be sure. I have not groomed down there in a while.

Hello,
For small sebaceous cyst, apply warm compresses on the area and take some over the counter anti-inflammatory pain killer like ibuprofen or diclofenac. If it becomes bigger in size then surgical excision may be needed.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

Thank you. The bump really hasn't gone away yet, but it has become a little smaller. Nothing oozes out of it, and I haven't tried to pop it. It still does not hurt or itch, and is still red in color.

Hello,
From the symptoms it can be a sebaceous cyst which can be present due to clogged pores. It is filled with a soft, whitish brown material that sometimes oozes out onto the skin's surface. This material is called sebum. Generally no treatment is required but they become painful then it means they are infected, then surgical excision by traditional wide excision, minimal excision, and punch biopsy excision may be required.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
