Dear Dr. Kaur,
Thank you for your informative reply. I have since seen my dermo and the biospy revealed it is indeed a dermatofibroma. My doctor did not just take a sample, he removed the tumor. I had several stitches; so I am sure it the removal was worth it.
Again, thank you very much. I really appreciate your reply and concern. Obviously I am doing well now.
Hello,
Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans is diagnosed with a biopsy, when a portion of the tumor is removed for examination. In many respects, the disease behaves as a benign tumor, but in 2-5% of cases it can metastasize, so it should be considered to have malignant potential. So you should wait for the biopsy report.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
