Roaccutane Side Effects

Hello, I'm 16, live in the UK and am currently waiting for an appointment with a dermatologist. If he agrees that my acne is bad enough to deserve Roaccutane, will it affect my growth, I have seen loads of people online say it does stunt growth. Yesterday I gained half an inch growth in penis girth and it is the first growth in girth I have had. This has got me wondering, if I am now in the puberty stage where my penis is growing, will these rumours (if true) stunt the growth of my penis or body generally? Should I risk taking Roaccutane if this is true? Is there any medical evidence backing this up? Thank you.

I have been taking Roaccutane for 3 months now and recently i started taking a 40 mg dose daily as opposed to a 30 mg one. Recently i have developed a rash on my foreskin. Also every time i get an erection the skin on the end of my foreskin rips and it bleeds a little bit. What should i do in response to this? I know this sounds very odd but if you could help me then i would be very grateful as it is freaking me out.

Is this documented that Accutane does cause premature epiphyseal closure? If so why is this drug being prescribed and why isn't this on the long list of side effects. My son was on this and he has not grown since, or while taking it. He was just past his 14th birthday when he took it. His acne was severe and it is also now back. It did clear up for a short time.  He is only 5, 5.
I started typing in about accutane and growth and have come up with a long list of concerncs about growth. If I was fully informed he would not have taken it. I regret doing this very much and I am angry  at the dermatologist, the pharmacists and the drug company for not having full disclosure of this severe side effect.

Hello,
Roaccutane causes premature closure of the epiphyseal plate and hence stops growth but that is in the musculoskeletal system, whether it causes growth of penis to stop is not documented. You can ask your dermatologist to start with other anti acne treatment.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards. You can find more information about this from the following site: http://www.rxlist.com/accutane-drug.htm
