Growth on 9 Year Old's Face

About a year ago my daughter had a red dot about the size of a pen tip. It hurt and continued to grow. She has had an ultrasound of it and there seems to be calcium inside. We have seen a dermatologist and she didn't think it is concerning but will have it removed - we are waiting patiently for the appointment. The spot now has a dark interior that looks somewhat infected. Does anyone have any thoughts of what this could be?  It's the size of an eraser end now and still hurts to touch.

Or it could be a carbuncle.

A small infected sebaceous cyst is most likely. not-serious but do consult your doc.
