I have this weird coloring around where I got an ingrown hair what do I do?

A couple of weeks ago I got what I thought was an ingrown hair on my inner thigh. It went away for awhile and the other day in the shower I noticed the area was a deep and ugly shade of blue and purple like a bruise. It doesn't bug me at all but sometimes it gets a little sensitive and sore when I'm wearing jeans.

I don't know what's wrong or what it means and I don't know what to do for it or about it. I've used Dawn Dishsoap on a wet rag and it would help with swelling but like an hour later it would be back.

When I first noticed the bump I thought it was a pimple so I tried to pop it but once I did it started bleeding and swelling. Later on it would start  pussing really bad and bleed. So I used the soap and put a bandaid on afterwards every time. It went away for a few days but then came back really dry and hard and it was affecting a lot of my thigh, so to fix this problem I put some lotion on it, it would burn but then the big dry patch went away. Then yesterday I noticed the coloring and I'm just really confused. What do I need to do? Is it infected or even contagious or anything like that? Please help!
