Unusal, large red/purple lines in groin area

Hello,

I noticed a little while ago that I have some rather large red/purplish lines on one leg in my groin region. Neither me nor my girlfriend have any history of STDs. They feel slightly indented, and I had assumed they were strech marks or something similar. But they haven't gone away or faded in color, and now it appears that some lines are starting on the other side of my groin. Now I am starting to get worried. I am a college student studing abroad right now so I can't exact go to the doctor.

Can anyone identify this? Has anyone heard about anything like this or symptoms like this? I hope it's something harmless but I really want to know if this is the symptom for any STDs.

Thank you very much.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
It can be due to stretch marks or small telangiectasias under the skin. Stretch marks occurs when the dermis (2nd layer of the skin) are frequently or continuously stretched causing tearing of the skin and lead to scarring. These marks happen commonly during pregnancy, weight gain, muscle building, on areas of the upper arms, breasts, abdomen, lower back, hips and thighs. There are many treatment choices available for stretch marks like over-the-counter creams or lotions, tretinoin cream, laser therapy.

To confirm the diagnosis please get an evaluation done from a dermatologist.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
