How long does it take for Genital folliculitis to clear up?

I have been diagnosed with deep Genital folliculitis/ staph. I am on day my third dose of antibiotics taken every 12 hrs. Usually I’m very patient however I am in excruciating pain every time I urinate due to the infection spreading to my vulva area. The pain is so bad that I wait for my bladder to fill until I cannot take it anymore and I get depressed when I realize I must go to the restroom. I am almost in tears when I “relieve” myself. I just bought origel to put down there, which I’m not sure is not safe. When I used it, it was painful but bearable. How long before I start to see improvement?

Staph is a pretty tough infection- it can take a few weeks for it to clear up- I would imagine you should see some improvement after 3-5 days- but if you are in this much pain, I really advise that you call your doctor and let them know.  You may need a stronger antibiotic or it's possible your doctor can give you something for the pain.
