Itchy Skin

Hi, I am 18 years old and for the past 4 years or so I have been experiencing extremely itchy skin, especially my legs. It gets a lot worse in the night time and I struggle to sleep because I am so itchy. my legs are covered in cuts and some have puss that comes out. I have been to countless doctors and dermatologists and no one seems to know what it is. I use a steriod cream but it doesnt seem to do the trick, it helps a little but but I would love some answers to get rid of this.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
I cannot confirm anything without a complete clinical examination. Dry skin is the commonest cause of itchy legs. Not maintaining a proper hygiene, sweat and dust can lead to bacterial growth and itchy skin. It can be prevented by taking shower preferably daily with lukewarm water and using soaps with moisturizers.Folliculitis due to Staphylococcus aureus can lead to itching and red bumps.Keratosis pilaris is a hereditary condition which cause appearance of fresh colored bumps on the legs with itching. Gravitational eczema and restless leg syndrome are few other possibilities. This is only speculation. A clinical examination is must .Treatment will depend on the cause.
Take care and regards!

I had itchy arms and legs for years and never the correct answer. I was finally correctly diagnosed with prurigo nodularis. My dermatologist has me taking Thalomid and my skin and itching improved dramatically. You may want to check it out.
