Red mark after scab

How do I know if the red spot/mark after the scab fell off is a scar or not? The scab fell off a while ago, and the spot is still kind of redish, exactly where the scab was before. What is the best way how to treat such marks?

Thank you for the feedback. It happened about 7 weeks ago, when I squeezed my nose very hard several times using nails on my fingers (I know, very dumb idea). Anyway, the scab formed the next day, and it was there for about a week, and then fell off during the night. After the scab was gone, there was and still is a red mark, which I have to say is slowly fading. This is the second month after trauma and I can see a little improvement in color. The bad thing about it was that initially I started using products: Bionect and Contractubex (I do not know if you are familiar with such products), and there was an inflammation because I used both creams in short time span, and the reaction caused redness even more. I started using agrimony tea and it helped to reduce the redness after a week. Now, I can see little red contour where the scab was initially, and it is fading from the middle to sides.

I will keep you updated.

Hi Juraj, how did your wound end up in the end? Tackling with a similar problem. Thank you.

Hello,
This mark is due to post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Without treatment, this usually takes about 6 months to resolve and for the skin color to go back to its normal color.  Topical treatments with acids and chemical peels can be effective but can take a while for the skin to totally revert to its normal color.  Microdermabrasion can also be done, but this might require several sessions.  Skin resurfacing using lasers is also an option.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
