Possible Eczema Herpeticum?

My 3 year old daughter has had 2 spots on her face for a couple of months now. Whilst they have faded, they have not gone away. At the end of last year, we went to the doctor as she had a rash in the creases of her legs and arms, as well as a bit of a body rash. The doctor at the time said is was either interior/impetigo (I cannot remember which now) in any case those rashes went away, leaving just these two spots on her face. There is a slight indentation on one on the spots.

We also went to a dermatologist who said that this looks like hemangioma, but I am not convinced. Can this occur at 3?

The other thing I recently thought of is that just prior to the initial symptoms, my wife did have a cold sore, but I thought it was gone before this started. Is it possible to pass on without a sore present?

Finally, Google is scary, hence my question to a forum. When you look at images, you see people covered with spots. Again, my daughter just has two.

Any idea on what this is?

From what I understand, hemangioma is a birthmark that grows during the first year of life- so I wouldn't lean towards that sounding right- unless it was hardly noticeable and you just started noticing it now.  My little sister had a few spots on her face that you barely noticed most of the time, but every once in a while they would appear.

Do the spots on her face itch or bother her at all?  Have you noticed the other rash re-appear or is it gone?

Google basically just will make you nervous- you are right about that!  I don't think the spot on your daughters face is related to the cold sore- if it's going away, even slowly, instead of getting worse- that's a good sign.

From what I have read, I would concur, but who am I to say the dermatologist is wrong
I have asked my daughter if the spots hurt or itch and she says no. The marks have faded, but are still noticeable.
Dermatology is an area that you see some guess work happen- it's important to go back again if you feel you got the wrong diagnosis- so if you really feel something else is going on, I'd definitely go back or even go to another doc for a second opinion.
