Pinkish Lump on Scalp

Hi,

I'm a 36 year-old Caucasian male. Two months ago my barber turned my attention to a small lump on my scalp. This lump is smooth, white-pinkish colored, about 1cm in diameter with (head) hair coming out of it (not a pretty sight). This lump is located at a hair-covered spot on my scalp, and it isn't felt by me (not scratchy or painful at all)

I've made an appointment to my dermatologist to next month, but it looks like something that requires a more urgent attention. Could you please take a look at the attached (current) photo of it and let me know if I there's a reason for me to expedite my appointment.

Thanks!

Update:
I saw my dermatologist last week. She confirmed that it's an innocuous nevus, which could easily be surgically removed if I'd wish to do so.

I think I'd just leave it as is for the meanwhile and reassess if & when it will enlarge or become exposed by my thinning hair.

Thank you maatson and Dr.Kaur,
Bye.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
It looks like a pilar cyst. It is a benign cyst on the head and neck which is mostly painless but can become painful when infected. Treatment includes topical and oral antibiotics and surgical incision and drainage.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Thanks! Should I have it removed, or could I live with it until I have no more hair to cover it and only then get rid of it?
