Red itchy spots, not bites

I have had for about a month, red itchy spots that just seem to appear in different locations for various durations. Some look exactly like mosquito bites, other like flea bites-but they are not. The spots are not closely clustered together. I could have one alone, or five within a two inch diameter. They itch unbelievable, and scratching only gives relief while I’m scratching, soon as I stop, the itching intensifies. I’ve even experienced more than typical  itching around the anus, but don’t believe there are any spots. They are not rash-like. I've looked relentlessly for fleas, bedbugs and chiggers; my wife and I share the same bed, and she has zero spots. We have no change in diet, soaps or anything else that would make me suspect of allergies. They first started on my ankles, then butt, stomach, chest arms... Now I carry hydrocortisone cream in my pocket-and that offers pretty good relief. However, they are not decreasing in appearance. Moreover, two of my church friends have a very similar condition. My sister, who is an ultrasound tech, has suggested adult acne, with the assurance it meets the symptoms—I don’t see it! What can it be?

After posting this, one of our deacons come over to our house last nite. I knew he and his wife were experiencing the same symptoms as i. He told me he just put his dog down. it had an extreem case of scabies, and they went to the docs, and doc told them they had it as well, and so they were treated accordingly.

I've read you can, cannot, or if you do pick up scabies off pets they will not multiply on human host: i don't know? I went to the docs today myself, he's a little sceptical, but is treating me for scabies. The proof will be in the treatment. If i remember I'll let you know in a week or so. I'm tired of itching; gotta try somthing.
