Skin peels off middle of upper lip every few days?

For the past year or so (not sure how long to be honest), every few days a piece of skin on the middle (where it dips) of my upper lip starts to hang off. I used to just bite it off or wait until it falls off but more recently have been brushing it off with a toothpaste. Most of the time I just wet it (lick it) and it comes off.

Does anyone know why this is happening? Where is all this skin coming from? Is it falling off and then growing back again and then falling off... and so on? I thought the skin only had several layers. How can I stop this from happening? My lips at the point where it comes off do not look pretty and I fear that if this carries on it is going to look worse. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

This also happens with me! A good 4 years now and I am only 26! At first I was really worried. Because in the beginning when it started it was like a splitted peel on a peel. It had a more reddish color to. Now it's just a simple peel every no and then... It's weird but the doxtors said it's nothing so yeah... But if you LOOK GOOD to other humans, many people have this issue... Especially older people. And there is 0! information about this in the medical papers... Don't worry about ir, it happens with many people

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
It can be due to cheilitis lips. Avoid licking the lips as saliva evaporates quickly resulting in them being drier than before. Drink plenty of water and take multivitamin supplements and do not apply lipstick or other cosmetic products for some days. Use a humidifier to moisturize the air in your home and apply shea butter or Vaseline on your lips.

If the symptoms persist then get an evaluation done from a dermatologist.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
