Staph/Acne Problem

I have been getting large pimples over the last year or so. I will have one pop up every 6-8 weeks. Some of them turned into boils, maybe because of me picking at them, I'm not sure.

One of them on my lower back became a boil, this was about 2 months ago. After doing some internet searching, one of the websites recommended applying warm compresses to the boils to bring them to a head. When I tried this on my boil, it caused blisters to form all over the surrounding area. These blisters left major scarring.

I went to the doctor and he said it was untreated Staph. I have no idea where I could have picked up Staph but that's what he said it was. So I went on antibiotics and the boil went away. Now I've been having some skin symptoms again. Acne on my back and chest, and this morning I noticed a large pimple on the back of my leg.

I realize the photo is not very focused but you can see that the scarring is quite unattractive. I'm just hoping to figure out if this scarring will be permanent or if it will go away with time, or if I can do something to help them go away faster. Also, what could be causing this condition? Is there some kind of skin condition that I could have picked up by sexual or other close contact? I can't even have sex anymore with these scars. Too embarrassed to let anyone see me naked.

By the way, I've recently lost about 20 lbs and gotten back in the gym... not sure if that could be related to acne but it's possibly worth mentioning. Thanks in advance for any help.

And if your concerned about sexual contact being the reason, you may want to speak with your doctor.

skin is damaged in the dermal level, the layer of skin where new skin cells originate. As your body heals the wound, it creates new collagen fibers, and this repair of damaged tissue results in a scar. Once you have a scar, it's yours for life.
Topical creams -- You can get both over-the-counter and prescription-strength creams that will stimulate new skin cell growth to reduce the appearance of scars. These creams often contain alpha hydroxy acids or salicylic acids, and some contain corticosteroids or antihistamines to help reduce inflammation and itching
Massage and pressure bandages -- Hypertrophic scars, or scars that have raised tissue, can be treated through the use of massage or pressure bandages to smooth out the build-up of scar tissue. This method often needs to be repeated for several months before results are visible
Tea tree oil -- Gels that contain tea tree oil have been known to heal the skin and make it smoother, but this treatment may cause allergic reactions in people with sensitive skin.
Vinegar -- Vinegar acts like a mild chemical peel to remove the top layer of skin, and it promotes a turnover of old skin cells, which are replaced with new cells.
Lemon or lime juice -- Applying lemon or lime juice to acne scars will help lighten the color of the scars so they're less noticeable
If natural methods don't give you the results you're looking for, it may be time to move on to more aggressive treatment options. Keep reading to learn about procedures your dermatologist can perform to reduce the appearance of your acne scars. But you should always be confident in yourself, everyone is beautiful in there own way ! And another way to reduce scaring is to not pick and pop pimple and scabs, lotion up daily, always put on sunscreen, and just take good care of your skin in general !
