Update on lesion

Hi Dr. Rockoff,  A month ago I wrote to you concerning an unusual bump on my leg.  It was a dark bump (sort of blue/black) on the back of my thigh.  I picked at it and it just bled and formed a scab.  Well then I picked the scab which left me with a white circle with red irritation around it.  You mentioned to me to watch it for a month and if I was still troubled by it in one month to show it to a Dr. then.  You thought it sounded like a picked follicle.  Well I wanted to update you on what it looks like now.  There still is a white circle with a little discoloration around it (looks similar to some scars I have) and a dark brown dot in the center of the white circle.  The red irritation is pretty much all gone(just a little red that blanches when pressed on but not as red as before)...no more scabs. Being that I picked off the scab in the beginning is this a scar? Why is there a dark brown dot in the middle of the white circle?  The dot is small (maybe the size of the tip of a sharpened pencil).  I feel that it does look better, but was concerned about the dot in the middle.  Thanks for your time!

This sounds like a healed scab.  The color will take some time to even out, because that's the way legs heal.  I think you should show tis to a doctor in person, because it's hard for me to tall you what this is without seeing it.  But nothing in your description sounds particularly scary.  Just leave it alone so as not to confuse the issue, and let a doctor have a look.

Best.

I forgot to mention that it does not feel like a bump anymore just slightly raised which I feel is the scar tissue.
