if you have psoriasis, like you said, please understand some basic issues. It is not a fungal infection, but an autoimmune disorder. scalp psoriasis has waxing and waning episodes, bound to get worse during winter . the shampoos for seborrhaic dermatitis and scalp psoriasis have almost the same content. psoriasis is a difficult condition to treat. keep taking the treatment which best suits you and hope it improves.
Your condition reminds me a good bit of my days when I was going through the same agony. In my case also I suffered from an embarrassing dandruff with dry flakes falling off on my shoulders. I was no exceptional and tried all the shampoos, creams and lotions. Especially I remember trying Head & Shoulders Intensive treatment for severe dandruff and must say that it did reduce the irritation to some extent. But the effect was temporary, relief was limited, and suffering was unlimited. I was advised to see a doctor but I didn’t want to go for an allopathic treatment with the fear of side effects. So started looking for homeopathic doctors and came across Dr. Shahid Shamsher. Well he is a trichologist practicing in Bangalore. Frankly speaking I was a bit hesitant initially because of his high fees and not quite confident but then thought of giving it a try as his experience seemed quite good. At least you know that you have a fungal infection but I didn’t until he checked my scalp and diagnosed the same fungal infection that you have mentioned. He then gave me some anti-fungal tablets, and some shampoos and within a month my condition improved. Be warned that the shampoo may not smell that great. I wish I also had thick hair like you but whatever little I had…. I had to save them. So After the dandruff treatment I continued my treatment for hair fall which has also reduced to a significant percent. He will also suggest or infact give you a chart to follow a proper diet pattern. So if you too believe in homeopathy I would suggest you to try him. I would have loved to give you the name of the anti-fungal tablets but sorry to say that his medicines are not available in the market.
Hello,
Dandruff can be due to internal or external causes.
Internal causes include hormonal imbalance, poor health, poor hygiene, allergic hypersensitivity, lack of rest, emotional stress, excessive consumption of sugar, fat or starch and heredity predisposition.
External causes include fungal infections, excessive use of hair sprays and gels, improper use of hair-coloring products, cold weather and dry indoor heating, infrequent shampooing of the hair or inadequate rinsing of the scalp and hair.
Eat a healthy diet. You can also take vit B6 and vit A and E which are good for hair and skin. Try medicated shampoos for dandruff. There are a number of over-the-counter shampoos available that can help. The most effective ingredients -- antimicrobials -- to look for are zinc pyridinethione, selenium sulfide, sulfur and ketoconazole (also available by prescription). If your hair is colored, don't use products with selenium sulfide or sulfur.
If the symptoms persist please consult a trichologist for the confirmatory diagnosis and treatment.Antifungals may be needed.
I hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
Your history suggests seborrheic dermatitis.A short course of application of betnovate scalp lotion would help you immensely. However forums can only suggest, and do consult your doc.
