folliculitis

i am a 22 yr old male nd am facing the problem of acute hair loss for the past 15 months . i tried a number of medications but none of them worked nd so i finally approached a renowned dermatologist . He has prescribed me antibacterial (hostacycline) nd minoz-50 pills along with a medicated shampoo nd minoxidil (2%) . Its been 3 months but even this treatment isn't helping me . i hav an oily scalp along with itchiness nd painfull boils . the doctor says i have folliculitis along with male pattern baldness ( although no1 in my family ever went bald ) .. the scalp pain nd eruption of boils has started incresing with the application of minoxidil . should i consult another dermatologist ?? plzz help doctor

I think if you are still on the antibiotic continue to end the course. As far as minoxidil goes by since there is irritation best to withdraw.Let the folliculitis first get cleared then we can think of hairloss.

I think minoxidil is irritating your follicles and undoing the effect of the antibiotic.Best to get back to the dermatologist and get reviewed.
