Warm itchy skin on face but no visible issues.

It started suddenly at 5am one morning a couple days ago...a lot of itchyness on my left cheek, down to my lips and up to my temple.  It has since become itchy in and around my left ear, around my left eye, and on my scalp.  I have not had any issues with my sinuses before, so not sure if this is a sinus thing or not.  There is no itchyness/warmness on the right side of my face.

There is no skin redness or dryness, just the itchyness, which gets worse at night. I've been getting some very mild and brief throbbing in my temple area as well.

I originally thought it may be because of a recent tooth extraction affecting the nerves, but since the itchyness has spread to my temple and scalp, i'm trying to find other causes.

I've started taking benadryl, so hopefully it will offer some relief.

Any ideas on how to alleviate this...or even what could be causing it.  There is no skin rash, no redness, no dryness, no visible signs of anything wrong.

I did have some burning in my mouth several days ago, likely due to a couple of ulcers, but that has healed up nicely before this started.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
From your symptoms neurodermatitis should be ruled out. Neurodermatitis develops when nerve endings in the skin become irritated, triggering a severe itch-scratch-itch cycle. Common causes of nerve irritation include an insect bite and emotional stress. I suggest you to get an examination done from a dermatologist.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
