red bumps on fingers

For the last 20 years I have gotten small red bumps on the sides of my fingers.  They don't blister.  They start out as one or two and then I might get a few more and they seem to cluster up on only the sides of my fingers.  They are not itchy but they are sore to the touch when you run your finger over them.  It feels like you have a splinter.  They are slightly raised and red in color.  They will stay for varying lengths of time and then dry up and go away.  Usually not for more than a couple of weeks.  I may go for months and months and not get them and then all of a sudden they show up.  I have been to various dermatologists over the years and they seem puzzled and never seem to know what they are.

It sounds like a stress related. See when the body is stressed it releases a Chemical called cortisone. Possibly each of your bodies responde so negitivly to this that your body seems to "target" the areas of your body that are most used and these "sores" are in a way acting like white blood cells to infection. Possibly the sores are simply your body trying to get the stress aka "cortisone" to stop

Folks I have had these occasionally also. The painful ones usually have some infection and what i have used is wart remover--sacylic acid and a combination of castor oil.Castor oil will reduce and eventually eliminate the hard ones. The wart remover will slowly super dry your skin out and eventually you will have a thin layer of skin and you can pop it open.I do not have gout but the one or 2 painful bumps I have had have been filled with a white substance which looks like Tophi.I hate these things also and if you do not like pain--like getting them aspirated--do it yourself. The wart remover I use is for plantar warts on the feet and it has cured the 2 painful bumps i have had.I work in the medical field and am not claiming to be a doctor, but these 2 treatments work.Castor oil and plantar wart remover.

I have been getting these for a few years now also, but weird thing is only in the winter and when I lived up North when the weather was -20, to -40 in the winters I never had this, now im in the city where in the winter its only ever as cold as -20 and I get them...... When I first noticed I had just changed jobs and thought maybe chemical but now after paying attention to when I do get them, I think it might have something to do with metal or magnetics, not sure why but that seems to trigger it for me.

I have the same problem :(. I'm a 23 yr old female. I get small clear bumps on the top of one finger on my left hand. They turn red when I was my hands in hot water and sometimes itches slightly. Sometimes it hurts even if I brush my hand over it. It will be gone for a few weeks and come back. I've had it for almost 6 months on and off. I thought it was an infection. Found this site looking for an answer. If I find one, ill post back here.
