small tiny reddish or brown specks

Hi,

Recently, I have noticed a several tiny little reddish or brown specks on my face.  I do have some white flat wart on my body and one big one on my finger.  The tiny ones are also throughout my body.    Do you think that these are warts or something else?

A few of the tiny brown spots on my face have been there for a long time and my dermatologist called them tiny blackheads.  Aren't blackheads usually pimples with just a black tip?

Also,  before I get some of these specks I get like a reddish itch rash.  I had gotten hives from using Pataday around a month ago.  The hives took several weeks to go away.  My question is can warts come through a hives rash?

I have one more question.  Can white worts be completely blended into the skin as if they look like dipigmentation?  Or must they be at least a little elevated?

Any help would be great.  Thank you

Regards,

buzy

Hi Dr. Santos,

Can the worts come through with itching and rash.  Sometimes the rash is reddish and other times just regular skin color.  The rash subsides, but leaves behind tiny specs of red or brown.  Extremely tiny.  This just happened on my eyebrows area.  Any insight would be great.

Regards,

Smita

Hi,

The brownish or reddish specs may be facial warts. And other fleshy growths present in the face may just be some kind of milia and are harmless. Warts are caused by the Human papillomavirus and can be very contagious. I can spread from other parts of the body and can also be passed to another person when that person touches the warts. It is also possible to get warts from using towels or other objects that were used by a person who has warts.Often warts disappear on their own, although it may take many months or even years for the warts to go away. But some warts won't go away on their own. There are many ways on how to remove warts. You could use salicylic acid or your doctor may burn the wart, cut out the wart or remove the wart with a laser. These treatments are stronger, but they may leave a scar. They are normally reserved for warts that have not cleared up with other treatments.

Discuss which treatment options are best for you with your doctor.  Take care and keep us posted.
