vitiligo & trying to concieve

My hubby recently had  some skin problems  and the dermatologist said it's very minor vitiligo  and he gave some ointment for him to use....It's not getting worse these days ,but we are not sure if the med. is working either....

During this period ,he also had semen analysis and everything came back normal. His numbers were OK or little better than the avarage....

I recently had a MC at 11 wks...My question is that whether or not vitiligo  has any impact on my hubby's sperm quality/quantity etc....It's really really  minor now ,but as known there is no %100 cure for vitiligo  and I don't even wanna think about that would prevent us having health  babies...

I really would like to get some opinion whether or not we should worry about vitiligo while trying to conceive

Thnx

Hello,
Vitiligo is a pigmentation disorder in which melanocytes (the cells that make pigment) in the skin are destroyed. The exact cause is not known but a genetic or hereditary predisposition has been seen. Children whose parents have the disorder are more likely to develop vitiligo but please don’t worry as the no. of such cases are very less. Moreover it is not a contagious disease and will have no effect on fertility or fetus.

Treatment options include steroids, psoralen photochemotherapy(PUVA),depigmentation and surgical therapy like skin grafting, micropigmentation or tattooing and autologous melanocyte transplants.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
