type1 juvenile

Okay I'm 22 now but have had my diabetes since the age of 12 my question n main concern is if my kids r at risk I have a 3 yr old that as of Tuesday is going to a dietician because they say she is over weight she is only 38lbs n is a pretty good size in height but I guess they see her obese... I'm just scared she well get it or the baby I'm pregnant with because with this pregnancy I have seem to be unable to control my sugars n I don't eat sweets if I do its fruit n that what my daughter eats as well well they have a high chance of getting it

I'm familiar with type 1 diabetes. My brother was diagnosed as a baby & my son was diagnosed at age 7. I would think that with both type 1 & type 2 that you have to watch your carbs & not just your sugars. A lot of fruits & vegetables have carbs. It's easy to get a nutrition book at a book store, to keep on hand, that tells what foods have the amounts of carbs it them; some even show restaurant info. They are handy! Your children might be at greater risk to get diabetes since you have it, but not a for sure thing. I have two sons, one has it & one doesn't. I don't have it & neither do my other siblings.
