Pancreatic neoplasm

Hi there

My mom who is 67 recently did an ultrasound and the report states the following:
Normal appearance of the liver, gallbladder, kidney, spleen, aorta and IVC
8.2x4.8cm complex mass seen in the pancreatic body and tail
Bladder is unremarkable
No free fluid seen

She is also experiencing pain in her upper abdomen, sides and sometimes in her back.  She has lots of gas in her upper abdomen, a cough and vomits liquid only.  She is feeling very warm in general and her stomach feels warm lately as well.

Could you please help me?

That sounds like a good plan. Take care and please feel free to ask any other questions you may have as your mother's evaluation progresses.

Dear Marcia,
Thank you for writing on behalf of your mother. A mass in the pancreas can be different things including cysts or solid masses, either of which can be quite serious. What you described, as well as your mother's symptoms, sound like she should be evaluated very soon to determine what it is. I suspect a CT scan should be done soon to have a better look--please contact your mother's primary physician and ask that the evaluation be expedited so that no time is wasted in finding out what this is, and setting a plan in motion for treating it. Be firm about this.
Take care of your self and your mother.
