Lab going in circles as in discomfort

Hi there......I have a 4 year old Choc. Lab who about 3 days ago, started to seem in discomfort when walking and started to slowly turn around and around try to chase her botton area.....not necessarily her tail.....

She cannot have worms, as she is on a monthly pill that the vet assures me kills all types of worms etc......she seems in some stress.....she still has a great appetite, no fever, does not seem to be in pain, or have a urinary tract inection as I have seen her behavior with one of those a few summers ago.......

Anyone out there have any ideas or suggestions??????

I would appreciate any help.....

Thank you,
Puzzled by my Lab in NY...............

I'd take her to the vet.

If she is eating, peeing, and pooping and is normally happy and active, it doesn't sound like an emergency, but I'd still take her.
It could be any number of things.  BTW, urinary tract infections often don't have the same symptoms each time your dog has one.

Sometimes when a dog suddenly starts turning in circles it can be caused by ear trouble. Is she shaking her head at all, or scratching at her ear more than usual? Or when she walks, does her head incline a bit to the side? Dogs sometimes will put up with a bit of discomfort without necessarily showing signs of pain, and usually, with a dog that feeds well, it takes quite a lot to put it off its food.

Hi,

My youngest dog sometimes becomes a bit uncomfortable and turns in circles and licks at her bottom.  I took her to the vet who found that she had an anal gland problem.

It's really gross but sometimes the anal gland just releases itself and the fluid that comes out is just horrible.  The stink is awful.  But then Gidget seems to get immediate relief.

She also releases this gland if she gets a big fright or is stressed.  Once when she was at the vet, he moved too fast and frightened Gidget and she released her anal gland very forcefully and it sprayed all over the vet.  He didn't seem to mind too much and said that he was wearing new trousers and it always happened when he had new clothes on.

I think I made a mistake when I named Gidget and I should have called her Pepe Le Peu.. I think she must be half skunk.

I love her any way.
