How do I help my dog?

I have a 1 1/2 old chiweenie, Hank, who goes out on regular adventures. I live in the country, so he has plenty of room to run. Anyway, I went on a camping trip this weekend and before I left, I put him in the house with everything he needed. He got out through a window and ran off. A couple hours after I get back, he shows up. My husband tried to pick him up and he yelped. I checked for wounds, broken bones, bumps, blood ect. Nothing. I brought him to bed with me and tried to make him feel better but he looks depressed. He yelped again when I reached out to him. I checked for any sore spots again. Nothing. Keep in mind, this dog is spoiled rotten. He has never been beaten by his owners or anything like that. This dog is extremely attached to me and loving of everyone around him. How do I help my furbaby?

It's possible he may be bruised or have some kind of muscle strain but I would take him to get checked out anyway. You don't know what happened to him when he was out.
A vet will have different ways to examine him and know what to look for.
