I Accidentally Kicked My Puppy?

This happened two days ago. My puppy was walking behind me, and all of a sudden he barked really loud which automatically startled me and so I accidentally kicked him and his body slammed a nearby table (not hard tho), then he whimpered so then I picked him up and kissed him and told him I was sorry over and over again. I feel so guilty. Days after, he's acting really normal. He eats well, he still loves to play and nothing out of the ordinary. He seems pretty normal. I started touching parts of his body where he got hit and he didn't wince or yelped at all so I'm guessing he should be fine.  I'm still worried and I wanna take him to the vet but my dad (who used to have dozens of dogs back then) said it was okay. And by seeing how Roxy (my puppy) is acting right now makes me relieved. But don't get me wrong, if my dad lets me to go to the vet I would probably be on my way right now instead of typing this on all of the social medias I could discover and fine, but sadly my dad kept insisting he was fine so I can't go to the vet. :( but maybe there are some veterinarians here or someone who has lots of experiences with dogs? Is my puppy going to be alright? He's playing with his toys right now, being his usual bubbly and playful self again. :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the story sounded a little odd.   I have known many people in my life but none who kick when startled.

Thank you! I was wondering how someone "accidently" kicks a puppy that is behind them?

Agree that the puppy is probably ok.
Also agree that you need to stop reflex kicking or the pup will get injured not to mention socially scared.

I definitely think your dog is okay. He was startled in the moment but moved on. You need to do.

Also, look into this reaction of yours. Kicking your dog once is an accident, kicking it multiple times is abuse even if you're just "startled".

It reads like you puppy is fine, and that is the most likely case given what you have told us.  I am sure your dad also wants the dog to be well.

The bottom line here to my reading, is figure out what makes you kick in reflex to a bark and try to find a way to stop that.

Good luck and enjoy your puppy.
