how much time left?

Hi all,
Our beautiful GSD Bree (3 and half years old) just had surgery 5/10/10 to remove a 2.8kg tumour of her spleen. I only noticed that she had a bit of a tummy on her last saturday, she is normally very slim and very very active. In retrospect, the only thing different about her in the past couple of months was aggression to her sister (our 4.5 year old GSD - Yodia). She continued to play, eat etc etc.
When they took out the tumour, they noted many small spots on her liver (approx 1 cm in size at the largest). I know she has metastatic cancer and most likely it is hemangiosarcoma. My question is, can you advise as to how long we can expect to have our girl for? Is there any chance she will be here for christmas?
Even very anaemic and just post surgery, she was like, right lets go home and play.
There are no words for the grief, but we have her for at least a little while.
Thanks for your time.

I have been a veterinary technician for ten years..and to be honest NO ONE can say how long she actually has..it really depends on how her body responds to the cancer..all animals have an excellent way of hiding how they actually feel compared to the condition they are in...i bet you will have her until christmas..when they stop eating and drinking and doing normal things or acts strange is when you should be worried..hope you have as much time with her as you need.. i have lost a pet and have witnessed many owners having to let them go...my heart goes out to you.

I have no answer to your questions, but I am sorry your dog is so ill at such a young age.  Enjoy every day, and continue to spoil her.  Its so hard to watch them get sick, but try not to let her see you upset, it will only make her feel worse.
