Potential broken tail

Hi,

My 12-14 year old beagle (we adopted her, so don't know her exact age) fell down our stairs Sunday. Basically, I was carrying her down before we went out and I fell down the stairs with her. Sunday night she walked a little slow, but mostly she just looked like she was sore, and seeing how I felt, I didn't blame her. Yesterday, her walking was pretty much back to normal, but I noticed her tail was constantly between her legs, hung down. I took a look and it's very sensitive, and I'm afraid it might be broken. I'm trying to get her to the vets today, but was wondering if anyone knows what this might mean for her? Do tails heal well? I can't imagine it being casted or anything, so how is it done? Any info would be great and thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for the info. Just got back from the vet and she is almost positive it's not broken, just badly bruised which is great. Hopefully should be back to normal in a week or so.

She's clearly not a cat the way she landed, but glad all is well.

I beleive thats a vet visit for you,, could be tail, hip, leg, or all 3...dogs that carry pain too long can get stressed, stress in dogs causes heart enlargement, also, overtime, if this wound heals on its own w/scar tissue the dog will carry an issue like maybe arthritis, soreness in bad weather, re injure old wounds...
I was be safe and take my dog in to the vet...
Welcome to the dog forum,,,glad to help in anyway...there are great people here..keep us posted on your outcome...
