Hi. Sniffing is a very natural thing ... for one dog to do to another. Some dogs are okay with this, even when a human does it, but not all. Sniffing can be interpreted as a dominance activity as well as a communication skill. For example, the dominant dog will often sniff another dog, who may be submissive, but if the submissive dog sniffs the dominant dog, it can cause an issue. I think you may have confused your dog, assuming she is submissive towards you.
Considering the response of your dog, I wouldn't repeat the activity. For one thing, if your dog were to snap out of fear or aggression, your face would be far too close and this could have serious consequences. I would just stick to the normal interaction between human and dog, i.e. stroke, pat and cuddle.

Well we live in an apartment and the maintenance man keeps coming in when we are not home and I have asked that he not do that and well she started acting funny when he started coming in and I was worried that he was doing something!
Hi. Are you saying he comes into your home without permission or supervision? That is illegal in most countries (except in an emergency where life is threatened). I would report it to the authorities. Tony
Agree with Tony on both his replies. That is totally not acceptable for someone to enter your premises, rented or not, without notification. I would be talking to the manager in a heartbeat!!!
