If you were to get a prosthetic eye, it would be purely for your benefit, as the dog can't see out of that side either way. Why spend money on that? One-eyed dogs are cute. - Blu
Wow, so sorry to read this.
Have to day I have known of no dogs with a prosthetic eye. I do know people with prosthetic eyes and it was a long process to make them and adjustments to get them comfortable to wear. Due to age, face and eye socket changes over the years, they had to have them redone. So, it is really more fir aesthetic reasons.
I have seen dogs and cats that have lost an eye and the eye was just grafted closed and the animals have done quite well. Amazing how animals can adjust! Maybe not as aesthetically pleasing but the simplistic solution.
So, being able to verbally communicate with my friends having dealt with this, the expense and time involved and some of the problems they have had, if it were me, I would opt to have the eye grafted closed. JMHO.
You actually have someone in your area that does that?
