Survivor guilt in dogs?

My little Pug mix rescue has turned into my pilot fish ever since his BFF, Olive, passed away a month ago. Olive was our beloved Lab. He is very clingy and seems to be mourning. We are even letting him sleep with us. How long will this insecurity last? Our dogs are our children.

Thank you. They were very bonded, he to her more than the other way around. We attempted the dog park but Earl scrapped with a nosy terrier. Baby steps. Olive was so good with other dogs that she often eased the way for Earl. He will have to learn socialization skills alone.

Some dogs mourn while others do not.  If your dog is eating and drinking, then I'm sure he will get past it.  You could try socializing your pug perhaps at a local dog park.  You could even contact your local humane society or rescue in your area and foster a dog until it finds a forever home.  They sound like a bonded pair and that is difficult.
