dog poisoned, could amoxicillin be the cause?

Took my boxer to the vet an hour ago, and have been told he has been poisoned by something, but I cannot think what.  The only thing that fits into the timescale is the amoxicillin he was taking up to a week ago. He is showing all the classic severe side effects, lethargy, vomiting, diarreah, pale gums, no bleeding anywhere though.
Could the antibiotics he was taking be the cause? It is the only thing that I can think of, but when at the vets, as it was a weekend callout, and worrying about my dog, I didn't think to ask.
He is a 5 year old boxer, weighs 35kg. Was taking one 500mg twice a day.

So very sorry to read this.  Will you take him to the Vet to try and determine the cause?

Could you give more information? I DON'T think that Amoxi is the cause....Was bloodwork done to check liver/kidney values? Is the Poisoning diagnoses based on blood report....

Next: Tick Diseases comes to mind....Is that a factor where you live?

Any new food or treats lately that may be the culprit? Let us know....Karla
