golden retriever suddenly dies

I've been reading all the comments and now my question seems sort of answered.. my 14yr old golden/husky mix was getting older.. little arthritic but in good shape.. She had been playing around all day .. ate very well and did her normal business...   she was happy to see me when I got home that evening and did everything she always does...  When I woke in the morning she was gone.... I am heartbroken...  it must have been sudden as she was still curled up like she always sleeps and her eyes were slightly open...   I've been groping for answers of some sort... did she eat something wrong...  what could I have done?  She was getting up in age but otherwise she was fine.. Slept more and more fussy about food..   Thank you for all your comments... it seems maybe her heart just gave out or something else..  I thank you all as I feel a little better knowing that it probably wasn't me...

So sorry for your loss but sounds like she had a good day and a peaceful passing.  You need to take comfort in that.
Agree, a good life span for a large breed and just a testament to the good care and live she got.
Hugs.  We do understand.

The age of 14 is near the end for most dogs, is better than average for a Golden Retrieve I believe.  Our big Golden lived only to 12 years and was "put down" due to cancer.  This was a decision we made, so we know "why" the dog died when it did.   There's a picture of this dog in my profile...a great dog and still missed.

Our rescue Westie was estimated to be 8 years old when we took him in, so we'll not have a long time with him even if he lives to the age of 14.  We try to enjoy him and life each day, one day at a time.  All comes to an end.

I am sorry for your loss.  It sounds like she went peacefully and was not in pain. Our Betsy, Cleo and Abby were there to greet her when she crossed the rainbow bridge.  She will be there waiting for you.  You will see her again.
