lump on dog's neck

my dog has a lump on the side of her neck...not in the middle--more under her cheek.

she is a boston terrier and is overweight and has a couple of soft fatty tumors on her body but this lump on her neck is new.
I just noticed it today and its abt the size of a golfball, soft and she doesn't cry when i squeeze it gently.

what could this be? It doesn't seem to have a head like an abscess would. I myself have had those and know what they feel like and they hurt

What was the outcome of the lump on your terrier back in 2012 sounds just like what my dog has and she doesn't see the vet till Tuesday? I'm very nervous and just really want to know what it could be.

Hi, how old is she ?
As if she is 9 upwards, older dogs can get lumps and bumps all around their body just because they are old.
The fatty tumours are there because she is overweight. When dogs are overweight, they are prone to health difficulties.

The lump on her cheek could be an abcess or a tumour. I would definately take her to the vet ASAP.

Agree with Ghilly.  Any lump like that should be checked out by a Vet. It *could* also by Lymphoma.

Even though she is prone to fatty tumors, I would definitely get this lump on her neck checked out.  There are submandibular lymph nodes located under the jaw and it's possible that this is a lymph node that is enlarged in response to something going on in her body, possibly an abscessed tooth that she just isn't reacting to yet or something,  You just want to get it checked out in case it's something she needs antibiotics for before it has any more time to build.  Please post back and let us know what the vet says.
