is 5 pds to big for a 10 week shihtzu, her mom is 6 pds and her dad 10 . but shes already 5 at 10 weeks so going pass her mom for sure. i only feed her life asbundance food  so scared she going get big like my last one , but he was on pred. thanks

I've never seen a 42 lb shih tzu.  Ours is around 10 to 15 lbs and quite active.

oh yes shes pure breed we paid lots for her from a well known breeder. i just wanted to make sure i was not over feedingher, my vet says no buti worry about her weight because of my last shihtzu who was 42 pds and he was pure breed to , but he was on preds for allerig (sp) i was hoping she be tiny like her mom but at 10 weeks already 5 pds and her mom 6 so guess not, but really hoping she dont get bigger than her dad  hes 10 pds.

Based on my own experiences with shih tzus, five lbs is not too much for your dog.  She's growing and all dogs grow at a different rate.  The prednizone might have also contributed to her weight.  However, I don't think her weight is a problem.  Our shih tzu weighs about 15 lbs and he isn't overweight.

Also, is your dog a purebred?  If not, she might have a larger "relative" which would account for her being bigger.
