Shih Tzu Scrunchy Back

My dog Charlie is coming up on 3. It's probably nothing, but when I touch the middle of his back, he scrunches it up, like he it tickles. I've also notice that the skin across his back gets very tight when he is ready to go outside to do his business. After he does, the skin is looser but he still will kinda scruntch his back up. So is this anything to worry about or is this just part of how he is made up. Oh and none is this is discomfort, or painful for him...it's just kinda funny to watch.

Thats just a Shih- Tzu for you. They are playful and silly. They love to have there bellys rubbed too. I raise them, (have 4 that live with me). All of them act that way. Aren't they just the best!!! I will be keeping another puppy soon, can't get too many!

I think you're right - he's just ticklish!  My dogs do the same thing when I scratch their backs.  That's not an easy place for dogs to reach without rolling over on their backs to self-scratch, so they just love it when we do it for them.  :-)
