Sorry this is long, dog died yesterday when he was being babysat

My dog died suddenly yesterday, he was around 7 months old.. A week ago we started moving and we had the original owners babysit him until we get settled.. They have two other dogs that are actually his birth father and brother.. So I knew he would be okay there and it was a familiar place to him and it was literally right down the street from us.. I checked on him everyday multiple times a day, he seemed perfectly normal and happy to play with his brother.. He was locked up in a crate when she had to go to work, I never had him in a crate he was always with me 24/7 he wasn't left alone hardly ever.. The day before yesterday she texted us around 6/7pm saying Spud is sick.. He had diarrhea, just laying around not wanting to get up and do anything, wasn't wanting to eat or drink, I asked her if he was throwing up, had blood in his poop, fever, bloated stomach... She replied back with no blood in his poop didn't mention anything else.. I called my husband and I started calling vets and planned on going to get him to stay with me.. No vets were open and I live in a small little town, we had to wait til morning.. I texted and called her multiple times asking to come get him.. I figured she went to sleep and if he was bad she would of still been awake.. I got a text around 4am saying omg y'alls dogs is dead, said she woke up and he was all alone by himself in a different room dead on the floor and stiff. When I spoke with her in person I asked again the syptoms and details then she said he was pooping everywhere and had blood in it and smelt very bad, she said she forced trying to get him to drink water and gave him Pedialyte, she also said his gums were white.. I was very upset and angry I wasn't told these things when I asked.. She also told us when we first got him that he was fully vaccinated but had to go get copy's from the vet.. I never received the copy's, I can't get a full on answer from her so I'm assuming he never was vaccinated. Spud was a happy, energetic, playful dog I only had one incident I had with him was I noticed he had worms shortly after I first got him and I got rid of it completely, Spud also ate and chewed anything and everything I constantly had to watch him.. he did eat grass often and had tummy issues but never Bad enough to take him to the vet..

I am just trying to figure out what happened.. parvo or did she do something to him? I am extremely upset, angry, confused, guilty for letting him stay there and not being there when he died.. Since I got him he slept with me every single night and followed my every move.. I am completely devastated so are my two daughters that are 4 and 5.. I apologise for this being so long and probably a bit scattered.thankyou for your time..

I am so sorry.  Sounds like it could have been Parvo but the Vet would have to test to determine that.  Actually, a necropsy would have to be done to try to determine the cause.

I am so sorry to hear about your puppy.  Something doesnt seem right with this due to him being healthy when you had him.  I know the effects of parvo as our dog had it when we got her but this seems to be a quick onset.  I know poison will do this.  Did you take Spud to the vet after he passed away?  They can do an autopsy to see what happened.  You can also go to the vet she used and ask them about the shots that were either given or not given.  Again, i am so sorry.  I know how painful losing a pet is.  My heart goes out to you~   sara
