I have a co worker who supposedly claims she has down syndrome. But I think she is lying about having down syndrome to get money from the government. She also has people pity with her. For example back in the lunch room she was telling her friends about a book she supposedly read "Hunger Games" I asked her who read the book to her, she told me she knows how to read, then she heated up her food in the mircowave and it was not healthy food, so I told her she should have he mother cook more healthy food. She told me she cooked the food herself. I told her she was lying somehow. She was either lying about having down syndrome or she was lying about being able to read and cook her own food. If she really had down syndrome how would she be able to cook her own food. Not only that she was distracted. I told her that she had to eat her dinner. She told me it was too hot, and I felt the temperature of the food she had it in and it did not feel hot and I told her to eat it. She was too busy playing on her I pad to eat her food, I took the IPad from her and told her I would return it once she finished her dinner. A coworker who witnessed this told me I had no right to treat her like a child and made me return the Ipad back to her. When I reported that the coworker slapped me across the face no action was taken because there was no proof. I confronted the person who is either lying. I told her once more that she had to admit that her mother cooked the food or I would report her to HR because she is pretending to have down syndrome to get money from the government. She said she does not get money from the government. I told her if she does not tell the truth that I would report her to management and she would get into trouble. I once again asked her who reads to her, and who cooks her food. She still refuses to either admit she is pretending to have down syndrome or that she cannot read and cook her own food. There is no way that she can cook her own food and read and have down syndrome. What should I do, if she is pretending to have down syndrome she is taking money from those that really need it, but if she does have down syndrome she should admit someone reads to her and cooks the food for her.
