Eating Disorder Complications

Hey everyone, I am 19, weigh 114 pounds and am 5'8'' tall.  I have been bulimic for the past five years and a while ago I decided to stop the process.  The only problem is that I can't eat without purging, even if its an apple.  How do I treat the constant nausea, and heart palpitations that cause constant fatigue and dizziness? It seems that the more I try to eat healthy and not binge, the worse the headache and nausea gets.  What do I do??

The refeeding process is definitely throwing me off balance.  It gets to where I won't even eat because food is repulsive. I have begun to take your advice and it is helping.  Thanks again and all the luck to you!!

i am going through the some thing, cant give advice because i am not free from my eating disorder
but i can tell you that what i am trying
no  anti-depressants made the bulimia worse, not to mention anti-d's are hell to detox off of!! and they made me gain weight!!
i am taking protonix, reglan and phenergan
other than having a doctor write me those scripts the recovery process has been between me and the people i am get help from, they told me to
1. read the OEA book
2. take reglan 30 minutes before a meal
3. throw away all binge food
4. keep a journal of everything you eat
5. get a daily planner calendar, put a star by each day you purge, go over it with someone who has recovered
i will let you know how it goes

Refeeding is definately the most painful experience that I have gone through in the past (several times).

Tums are my best friend.  Brown rice, saltines, and any fish product are easier to digest than many things.  If you have been purging for that long, you will want to stay away from anything too acidic.  Apples, most fruits (other than bananas, those are easiar to digest and LOADED with potassium, a great way to help heal your heart).  If you like sushi, I have never had a problem digesting that either.  Chicken, especially cooked to a softer texture is great for nausea.  Avoid anything with too much salt or spices, as this will trigger your reflux.  Eat small amounts, because if you eat alot at once you are more likely to get too full, triggering the nausea and urge to purge.  Yogurt is loaded with healthy bacteria to heal your entire digestive system, and also bone strengthening.  If you find the amount of sugar in yogurt triggering, there is Greek yogurt now which is loaded with protein and has very little sugar.  I add about 1 TBS of honey to 8 ounces and it makes a great snack or half of a lunch.  Whole wheat tortilla wraps are very good, and with 3 ounces of turkey, some lettuce and just a touch of olive oil, mayo or musturd make a great meal.

Good luck, hang in there.  I never thought I would get through that part and am still in part refeeding, it will take years.  You can do it, life is too precious to waste.  You are in my thoughts!
