Hi, having had a hysterectomy because of adenomyosis and founding the global not for profit organisation Adenomyosis Advice Association, please feel free to visit the website and look through the options you have. Should you need to email me, please feel free to do so via the site or via Facebook or Twitter pages. Kind regards, Danielle
Oops I meant to say at least six weeks.
If you are concerned about have any endo, do not do it vaginally because they will not be able to see any endo. It needs to be done laparoscopically to look for endo. I know someone who had a total hysterectomy including removing the cervix. It took her 6 weeks. Be sure to get bio-identical hormones about month later if you are also .getting your ovaries removed. (if there is any endo, if not you can start them after your hormones levels are checked to compound the correct dosage for you.) I know about bio-identical hormones because my best friend uses them and I went with her to her fist appointment with the doc who prescribed them. They can be taken for the rest of you life w/o worry. If you have questions you can go to Diplomat's pharmacies website:

(I mentioned fibroids because they can be removed w/o a hysterectomy)
Good luck, it took my friend 6 weeks to recover the hysterectomy.
I have no idea - maybe from the ultrasound - ??? My sister had the same thing but it wasn't confirmed until after the hysterectomy. At any rate, I'm scheduled for a total hysterectomy anterior posterior, cyctocele, and rectocele.Having the correct name for my problem isn't important at this point, especially considering my situation.
How long will it take me to recover from all this? I assume it wil be done vaginally, so how long should I anticipate staying in the hospital - overnight?
Thanks for the input.
How can your doctor be sure it is adenomyosis and not fibroids?
Thanks so much - glad to know you're feeling back to normal. Enjoy!
I called the office today to schedule the surgery. I'm anxiousl waiting by the phone right now for their return call. Thank God for modern medicine, huh?!
I know how you feel, I had a hysterectomy in Feb for the same reason. Had tried several other treatments in the 2yrs prior but opted for a hyster (took uterus and cervis) in the end and I don't regret it. Its been the best thing for me I feel great in myself now and not going mad trying to plan my life around when my period was coming and all of its probems. I am sure my husband and kids are happy to have me back as well. Good luck with it.
