After six months of laparoscopy for endometriosis still in pain

Dear Friends ,

It's been 5 months I had laparoscopy for endometriosis but the pain is still here . I can't have sex at all. Things were seem quite better after laparascopy but only for 1 - 2 two months , the pain is back. I really don't know what to do .:-( .I had hormone treatment after the operation . The pain never disaperead , even after laparascopy > I really don't know what to do , it's there every day and especially nights > I can't sleep well I woke up 5 - 6 times during night. I spoke with my doctor in October and he said if in 3 months time he won't recover , you should learn and accept this pain in your body . How can you do this ? Is it possible ???

Foutsos & all. i just stumbled across this web site & found your letter to be all too familiar. I've had endo, cysts, adhesions for a long time. My first laparoscopy was when I was 19. I too went back with minimal relief & was told "some women just have pain, deal with it". When I was early in my early 30's I had terrible pains. Again another lap, only this time it was one of the worst cases this Gyno had seen. I had to go back in for a second clean out by a top gyno as it was too close to the bowel. Since that lap my pain has steadily been very slowly getting worse. Bloating & distention was becoming more & more painful. I also have CFS/ME but I was doing well with that, I was finally working & loving it!! Unfortunately the pelvic pain was gradually pulling me down. Was it IBS? Endo back? I decided to take a few months off to see Gastro's, a Gyno who wasn't going to tell me to learn to live with it!! It's now been 3 years since I have worked. I am constantly distended - look like I'm 6 mths pregnant. And the pain, well, it's just too much. Most of my days are bedridden with pain killers & my heatpack. 2 years ago - another lap, organs all stuck, endo, adhesions. She was a fantastic Gyno & was reluctant to do the op as it just creates more adhesions. She also put an IUD in - Mirena. From there it's been all Gastroenterologists. Even the discussions of DO adhesions cause pain was ridiculous. One says no, another says they cause debilitating pain. I spent Xmas time in hospital needing pain relief & now more endometriomas have shown up. SO, now I'm waiting. Waiting to see the Gyno again. Waiting to go to another pain clinic to "learn to live with it". I can tell you, I have been to 2 pain clinics - it's all the same. I have a psychologist that I see to help me cope but she was the one that recommended me to go back to ER as I was getting worse & worse. I can't live with this pain. Believe me I am trying. Do I need to find a better Dr - one that deals only in endo/adhesions? Or....  Yeah... That's where I get stuck. Any advice would be greatly appreciated from anyone. I also wondered how you are feeling now?
If there has been any improvements.
Thank you for reading

after I had surgery the pain returned after only 2 weeks and things got worse I went back to my gyno and he told me to wait 4-6 months and if things don't improve he will send me for more surgery but I decided to do everything the natural way I started yoga and a new diet more exercise and I also found some supplements that are good for things like endometriosis after a few months I started feeling a bit better and the pain wasn't as often and also I fell pregnant with my first after trying for nearly 5 years I think you need to look around for a new doctor nobody should have to learn to live with this kind of pain

You so not have to accept it! But what you should accept it the fact that you need a new doctor!  There are treatment options available that most doctors don't offer. My gyn was not help either. He did an exploratory laparoscopy, saw an area that was probably endo, didn't remove it because it was in a risky location. So I had that lap, recovered from it, and still had the pain. I advocated for some kind of hormone therapy. Fought for pain meds. Then I had enough, I found a dr who specialized in endo, I've bed treated and so far so good, I'm 8mos clean of pain!

My endo trip has taught me that I MUST advocate for myself. If I don't who will?

Also what surgery was done during your laparoscopy? Was the endo burned off? Because endo can grow back after cauterization.
