Bloody stool only at menstrual time

Was wondering if any body else has experienced my symptoms.  I am 43 years old and only at ovulation and menstrual time do I have excruciating abdominal pain ( to the point of passing out) with severe diahrea followed with passing blood for several days.  I've been scoped up and down had CT scan, transverse ultrasound of my ovaries and uterus and was told that I have a small cyst on my right ovary and gall stones.  Gall stone doctor said that my symptoms are not gall bladder related.  The GI doctor said at time of my colonoscopy that my right ovary was very enlarged and my symptoms could be related to endo.  I am very concerned being that I have been dealing with this for 2years. My gyn doctor says that I am normal and that bleeding from the rectum is NOT in anyway related to female problems.  I am requesting to be seen by another gyn.  I would love to hear back from anyone who relates.

your doctor may not be right. i would go see and endo specialist in your area. sometimes if there is endo on your bowels, it can cause issues like what you are experiencing. you may need a bowel ressection. a good excision endo specialist can do this during a lap surgery.

Hi I have endo and one of the worst symptoms for me was the painful bowel movements, with blood in my stool, during my periods. I also had severe abdominal pain that occurred mostly during my cycle, but sometimes not anywhere close to my cycle!  On a whim I mentioned it to my OBGYN, even though I didn't think it was related to female problems, and sure enough after a few more exams and a laparoscopy she found endometriosis.
But now after reading a lot about endo, a lot of the strange (and uncomfortable to talk about) pain I've had for so long is explained. So you may really want to talk to another dr. about it, because from what I've read endo can grow onto the bowels..so the two problems can be connected. Good luck I hope you get some answers soon! :)

Hi There,

I too, have had bleeding in stool during periods and extreme pain.  I was diagnosed with endo. last August.  I would definitely go and see someone else.  IT's difficult to get someone to really listen to your symptoms.  Having the laporoscopy was the best thing I've done so far.  I had a colonosopy and the scope down and found nothing.  The gastroentorologist was right with his diagnosis saying he thought it was endo. and not a bowel related problem.  I wish you the best of luck.  It's difficult to go through, but once you get it figured out, hopefully you will feel better soon!!
