I had one removed several years ago - in the 1990s - and the ovary was saved. There was a lot of discussion going into it about oh, maybe it won't be able to be saved, and what will they find, and I was terrified, but it turned out okay.
That was a long time ago, and techniques have come a long way since.
Is there some specific reason they don't think the ovary can be saved?
