Endometriosis starting point?

Does Endometriosis always start in the uterus and then spread??  Can it begin in the ovary and then travel?

Yes endo is bad its can spread everywhere. I thought i was suffering from IBS but it was the endo that had spread all over causing that kind of symtoms. I wish my doctor would of noticed this sooner. I now may not be able to have childern. I'm only 26.

Dear ladies

I had a hysterectomy 33 years ago (when I was 23) and my ovaries were taken when I was 39.  I have suffered with lower abdomen pain, usually in my right side, for as long as I can remember and certainly a few months before I began menstruation when I was 12.  My appendics burst when I was 33 so had emergency surgery to remove it.  I started bleeding 8 months ago but thought it might be from bowel movements as I have always suffered with constipation.  However, 5 months ago I noticed blood running down my leg when I got out of the bath and since then I have been bleeding mostly all the time but now clots appear at times.  I talked to my sister about it and, as she had been suffering with endemetriosis, she thought that perhaps this is what I had to. Rather stupidly, I did nothing about it because I put my job first rather than my health.  The last time I had intercourse in May 2009 was a painful experience and have not had any sexual activity since then and I am no longer in a relationship.  After much pressure from my family and friends I saw a Dr on Tuesday this week.  He believes I have endemetriosis and has urgently referred me to the gynaecology department of our local hospital.  I am awaiting an appointment which the Dr said will be within the next 2 weeks.  The health service in the UK is very poor but I remain hopeful that I will be seen quickly.  I WILL post my results on this site.  Please can you also put your results on this site to keep all us fellow sufferers informed.  Thank you.  Gloria (UK)

endo can occur anywhere in the abdominal cavity.
ovaries uterus bowel loops etc.
yes, it can spread. Drugs like danazol/ lupron shots etc help control endo. Surgery/ Laproscopy can be an option.
